I’m writing to you on behalf of my mom, Tossie Scruggs, who is beloved by many of us as a friend, a neighbor, and someone who gives with gusto, humor, and heart as she faces a particularly tough week and some uncertainty ahead.

After many, many years of care, repairs, and making it last as long as possible, her trusty old car (fondly nicknamed Sterling) has finally given out. As anyone who knows Tossie understands, having a reliable vehicle isn’t just a convenience; it’s absolutely essential to her livelihood and independence!

Tossie has spent her life showing up for people. Whether it’s caring for pets while someone’s away, tending to homes during emergencies, or cleaning spaces and organizing projects to bring peace and clarity - she gives her time, her attention, and her skills to those around her. She shows up genuinely and consistently, and always with positive energy and intention.

Many of you also know that she is a proud and self-sufficient person, which is part of why asking for help doesn’t come easily to her. But she’s said yes to letting us rally around her this time - because she needs a safe and reliable vehicle to continue doing the work she’s been dedicated to for decades.

We’re hoping to raise between $7,000–$10,000 to cover:

• A dependable used car

• Temporary transportation

• Insurance

• Any lost income during this unexpected setback

Every dollar will go directly toward helping Tossie get back on the road and back to serving the community the way she always has.
