We lost our dad suddenly, and now we’re fighting to keep the home he built for us.
Our dad, Terry Larrabee, was love in its purest form. His life revolved around his daughters, Tori and Tara. Everything he did was for us. He carried the world on his back so we wouldn’t have to. He had the biggest heart but kept most of it hidden behind humility and humor. He was generous in quiet ways, always giving, always helping, even when he had little left to give. He never needed recognition; he just wanted people to be okay.
More than a decade ago, life turned upside down for him. He did everything right, worked hard, paid his bills, and provided for his family, but circumstances beyond his control stripped away nearly everything he had built. It broke him for a while, but he refused to let it define him. He started over from scratch and never once complained. He kept fighting, kept rebuilding, and kept believing that his daughters were worth every ounce of effort.
Then, on October 9th, 2025, our world shattered. What started as a hospital stay turned into days of trauma and impossible choices. We were faced with decision after decision: whether to risk surgeries that could end his life, whether to put him on or take him off life support, whether to let his heart rest or keep asking it to fight. Each time, we had to weigh hope against heartbreak, knowing that any choice could mean goodbye.
It wasn’t just once; it was over and over and over. We said goodbye so many times that it broke something inside of us. Every time we thought it was the end, he fought his way back, giving us just a little more time. We sat through countless hours by his bedside, hearts pounding with every monitor alarm, terrified to close our eyes. We didn’t sleep for days. We had to make impossible decisions in split seconds, choices no one should ever have to make for the person they love most.
One day he was joking with us, and the next we were holding his hand, praying for a miracle. He fought until the very end, giving us the gift of those final hours: to cry, to talk to him, to nap beside him like we used to when we were little. Even as his body was failing, he somehow found a way to comfort us. That was who he was, loving, steady, and protective, even when he was the one who needed saving.
Now we’re standing in the quiet he left behind, trying to learn how to breathe in a world that feels completely different without him. The silence is deafening. His tea is in the fridge. His sponge is in the sink, and his slippers are by the door, as if he might walk in any minute. Everywhere we turn, we feel his presence, but so does the weight of reality. The bills keep coming, and the house he worked so hard to keep is now on our shoulders. Without his income, we’re left with medical costs, cremation expenses, and debts tied to the home he built for us with endless love.
We inherited the house that meant everything to him, the home he poured his heart into, the place he dreamed of us always having. It’s the last piece of him we can touch. We’re doing everything we can to hold onto it, but we can’t do it alone.
Every donation will go toward:
- Keeping our family home, the place where his love still lives in every room.
- Covering his medical and end-of-life expenses.
- Paying the debts tied to the estate so we can protect what he built.
We’re not asking out of entitlement or pity. We’re asking because our dad gave everything he had to everyone else, and now we’re trying to honor him the only way we know how: by protecting what he built.
He was the kind of father people dream of having: strong, funny, protective, and impossibly kind. He believed in us more than we believe in ourselves. He was our constant, our anchor, our best friend. Losing him feels like losing the ground beneath our feet. We are broken, but we are trying.
If you can help, by donating, sharing, or simply sending love, please know it means more than we can ever express. Every act of kindness helps us hold onto the love he left behind.
Our dad taught us how to be strong, how to love without limits, and how to give even when it hurts. He didn’t just raise us; he built us. His love is woven into who we are, and even though he’s no longer here, we carry him with us in everything we do.
Thank you for helping us carry his love forward and keep the home that will always be his.
