My name is Torben Heinbockel, and for over ten years, the Maryland State Boychoir has been my second home. Since I joined at age six, the Boychoir has shaped who I am, providing me with world-class musical training, unforgettable performance opportunities, and a community that feels like family.
Now, as I work towards my Ambassador Chorister Theory Card, the highest theory honor in the Boychoir, I am undertaking a final special project to give back to the organization that has given me so much. My goal is to lead a project that will create a lasting and beautiful improvement to the Boychoir’s grounds for everyone to enjoy.
The Project: What We Will Accomplish Together
This project has three distinct parts that will transform the main entrance area:
1. A Dignified Flag Display: We will professionally install three flagpoles to proudly fly the U.S. Flag, the Maryland State Flag, and the Baltimore City Flag. This will create a formal and respectful entrance to our home.
2. A Beautiful Garden Bed: Surrounding the flagpoles, we will build a landscaped garden with a two-layer stone paver border, fresh mulch, and about ten low-maintenance plants, creating a vibrant and welcoming focal point.
3. Restored Community Benches: The three large wooden benches on the patio, which have become weathered over the years, will be fully restored. We will carefully pressure wash, sand, stain, and seal them to bring them back to life and protect them for years to come.
To complete this vision, I am asking for your support. While the Boychoir has generously provided the flagpoles, we need to raise $1,100 to fund all the other materials required to bring this project to life.
Every single dollar of your contribution will go directly toward purchasing the specific materials needed for this transformation. Your donation isn't just a number. It's a bag of concrete for a flagpole's foundation, a paver stone for the garden wall, a gallon of stain to restore a bench, or a plant that will add beauty to our shared space.
This project is more than just an assignment for me. It's a thank you note to the community that raised me. Please consider making a donation and becoming a part of this special project.
Thank you for your generosity and for your continued support of the Maryland State Boychoir.
Should we be fortunate enough to exceed our goal or have leftover funds, all extra money will be donated directly back to the Maryland State Boychoir.
