My Interview with Tony

Tony is one of the most genuine souls I’ve ever met.

At 61 years old, Tony has spent the last 40 years of his life trying to make a living here in Pensacola. His path hasn’t been easy, but somehow, through it all, he has continued to choose love, kindness, and faith.

A few years ago, Tony contracted a serious infection that nearly cost him his leg. He survived, but the struggle didn’t end there. Today, he still lives with open wounds on his leg and needs skin grafts to help close them. But Tony has no health insurance to help cover the care he needs.

So every day, he changes his bandages and keeps going.

Tony has no car. He has no phone. And he barely scrapes by creating beautiful, hand-made artwork on the corner in the local area, giving his creations to people in exchange for whatever donations they are able to give.

This is how Tony survives.

When I met him, I could see that life has taken a lot from him. But it hasn’t taken away his heart.

Tony still loves God. He still loves people. And he still has kindness to give to complete strangers.
