My name is Jorge Caraballo, and I’m from Manabao, a small, close-knit town in the mountains of Jarabacoa. About eight months ago, tragedy struck our community when a fire destroyed the homes of four humble families. Since then, they’ve been doing everything they can to rebuild—but the road has been long, and the resources are few.

This is Tono, one of the people who lost everything that day. He lives with his wife, who has special needs, and together they’ve been displaced far too long. Despite the efforts of our community—who have given all they can—we’ve reached a point where outside help is needed to get them across the finish line.

Mi nombre es Jorge Caraballo y soy de Manabao, un pequeño y unido pueblo en las montañas de Jarabacoa. Hace unos ocho meses, una tragedia sacudió a nuestra comunidad cuando un incendio destruyó los hogares de cuatro familias humildes. Desde entonces, han hecho todo lo posible por reconstruir, pero el camino ha sido largo y los recursos muy limitados.

Este es Tono, uno de los afectados por el incendio. Vive con su esposa, quien tiene necesidades especiales, y ambos han estado desplazados durante demasiado tiempo. Aunque la comunidad ha dado todo lo que ha podido, hemos llegado a un punto en el que necesitamos ayuda externa para que puedan terminar de reconstruir su hogar.
