As many of you know, Tom Nash has fallen on some challenging and difficult times in the past year; living on a very small Social Security income in a cramped, isolated, single room with no kitchen, with multiple serious health problems and disabilities that limit his mobility. It's been rough going for him, though he remains largely in good spirits. The isolation of his current situation has been the hardest part.
However, better things beckon, as after 14 months on a waiting list, he has finally gotten a full one-bedroom apartment with a full kitchen in Hill House, a subsidized senior living facility in Riverside, CT, near his old neighborhood and friends. There promise to be many significant improvements in the quality of life available, most especially living in a community setting and the social life that goes with that.
However, largely due to overwhelming medical bills and having been unable to work more than a few hours a week after his brain injury in 2015, he lacks the money to move; to pay movers, come up with the initial rent and security deposit, and all the other incidental costs of setting up a new household. We’re asking his many friends and ex-students to help by contributing what you can, to send him on his way to a brand new, exciting, and happier chapter in his life.
