Hi, my name is Whitney, and I’m organizing this fundraiser to support my brother Tom (known on Whatnot as @texastinker and @mrstexastinker) and his family as they navigate a difficult medical emergency.

A few days ago, Tom was hospitalized unexpectedly with a severe case of pneumonia that had gone untreated for longer than anyone realized. By the time he reached the hospital, he was in critical condition, coughing up blood and experiencing complications related to sepsis and lung failure. He was immediately admitted and began intensive treatment, which he continues to receive. Currently in the ICU with unknown date of release.

While he is now stable and showing signs of improvement, his recovery will be slow and will likely involve additional follow-up care and time away from work. His small business is currently on pause, and his wife, Sara, may need to take unpaid leave from her teaching position to care for him and their two children during this time.

As with any unexpected health crisis, there are a lot of unknowns ahead — from medical bills to reduced income to the everyday costs of running a household. We’re setting a modest goal to help ease some of the immediate pressure and provide a bit of breathing room as they get through the coming weeks.
