Tom Allen, known as Beaufort's unofficial "greeter," has been welcoming neighbors and visitors for over 17 years. Rain or shine, through freezing winters and sweltering summers, Tom has stood at the roadside, waving and smiling at everyone who passed by. His simple act of kindness has brightened the days of countless neighbors, making him a beloved figure in the community.
Recently, Tom's health has declined, and he is no longer able to work or get around as he once did. He now lives on a small monthly social security check, with no means to improve his living conditions. Tom resides in a dilapidated single wide trailer that was once his late mother's home. The roof leaks, the windows don't close properly, and the porch has rotted and is falling apart, making his situation even more challenging.
The funds raised through this campaign will be used to upgrade Tom's mobile home, either through much-needed repairs or, if possible, by replacing it entirely. We also hope to restore his porch. For 17 years, Tom has given each of us a random act of kindness by sharing a smile and a wave, no matter the weather—rainy days, freezing winter days, sweltering summer days, sand gnats, mosquitoes, and who knows what else. Now, it's our turn to give something back. All we ask is for you to contribute what you can and help us support Tom, Beaufort's unofficial "greeter."
