Many of you will know that Jamaica was hit by one of the strongest hurricanes it has ever faced this week and that my partner, Shantol, has immediate family in Jamaica.

One of the areas hit hard was Santa Cruz. (The photo above is not his home but that of similar damage in the area).

Shantol's brother, his partner and 2 year old daughter live in Santa Cruz and had the roof of their home taken off early into the devastation. Fortunately, they were able to flee from the home before this happened but everything inside the house was then damaged or destroyed by the ensuing havoc that was wreaked by the hurricane.

Employment wages and the economy in Jamaica make this an incredibly difficult situation for the family to go through during a time in their lives where they have just begun a family and had their daughters first day at school in the last couple of months and now no sign of when they can return to home, school or work and have little in the way of funds to cover any of the reparation that is required.

I would like to reach out to my network to come together and support in any way you can with the financial aid so that something completely out of their control that has torn through their life, doesn't have quite as much damage as it could have.

Imagine having to replace everything in your house - oven, washing machine, fridge, wardrobe, everything - all at once. Tough for anyone.

I have not informed Shantol of this fundraiser as she would not want to ask for help so please do not mention it around her.
