Help us complete the Yancey Family!
I met Kim Yancey about 9 years ago while we both had the common interest in seeing families be created through surrogacy. We have continued to keep in touch through the years and I have loved every bit of watching her journey as she continued to help create 5 more babies through surrogacy and begin her journey as a foster parent. It would be no shock to anyone who knows Kim and her husband to know that the title "foster parent" quickly turned into "adoptive parent" for them. Through their time as foster parents they also welcomed Baby J, Baby L and Baby E... all as newborns!! Without hesitation Kim and Greg accepted Hope and Aspyn's biological siblings into their home over the past year. Due to unchanged and unsafe circumstances which prevents both babies from going home, an attorney has been retained to ensure that these babies can remain in the Yancey home and with their older sisters.
As for Baby J, he came to the Yancey family as an emergency placement at just 3 weeks old. He was able to reunify with his birth mom and 5 siblings after 18 months in their home. However, after just 6 weeks, it became apparent that his mom was not going to be able to continue to care for him. She called Kim and asked if she could meet her to pick up Baby J and keep him. That was exactly one year ago today. The amount of trauma his little body and brain endured in those 6 weeks is incomprehensible. The Yancey family wants nothing more than to adopt this little boy and make him theirs FOREVER. Sadly, due to some complexity of his situation, an attorney needs to be retained to do some serious work on the case in order to make this happen. Multiple times, I have asked Kim to let me set up a go fund me to help them financial through that process. Kim, always the 'helper' and not wanting the help always kindly turned me down. :) Until today, working on ensuring the safety of these three small littles, hitting the one year mark since they have had baby J and wanting so badly to complete their family of 11.. she gave me the OK to make a go fund me!
All funds raised through this fundraiser will be strictly used for attorney fees for Baby J's case. In the event that the costs are lower or more than enough funds are received, they will continue to go to the same attorney for the cases involving the other two littles.
