Help to Aid Jamie's Recovery and Family

Jamie was admitted to the ICU on March 20, 2025, with what we initially thought was just pneumonia, expecting he would be home in a few days. Now, we are on day 11. He was sick the week before with influenza A. The bacterial pneumonia progressed to sepsis, which then led to septic shock. He was on a ventilator and dialysis for several days, fighting for his life. He’s no longer on the ventilator, but he is battling a serious infection! The doctors say he may lose his hands and feet due to the infection. There is a great deal of uncertainty at this time. Our hearts break for Jamie, Jamie Jo (his wife), and their children!
We hope to raise funds for her to care for the boys during this time- mortgage, utilities, food- just the basics. Jamie Jo has been by his side since day one. Please continue to pray, as he needs all the support he can get!
4/3 UPDATE 16 days – Test results came back positive for Legionella and Streptococcus (which led to the septic shock). He still has the chest tube draining the infection from his lungs, but today he is stable (no longer in the ICU) and is being transported to the Cleveland Clinic. The Cleveland Clinic has a team of surgeons who will be meeting in the coming days to discuss the tissue damage in his hands and feet. At this time, due to the extensive damage caused by septic shock, the doctors are considering potential amputation.
4/10 Update 23 days – A positive note: the chest tube has been removed, and he’s eating solid foods! He experienced some issues earlier in the week with dialysis, as the machine malfunctioned and drew too much blood. This caused him to feel lightheaded ringing in his ears. Thankfully, he bounced back after a few hours. He is still currently on daily dialysis and has started in-room physical therapy, making good progress with that. Now that he has completed the numerous antibiotics and overcome the infection, he is no longer disoriented and is thinking clearly, which in turn leads him to think deeply! He must confront the emotional and physical changes, which are tough to process. We hope to discuss his discharge from the hospital and potential home care, along with travel to the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus for evaluations and surgeries. As of today, they are still assessing the tissue damage to his hands and feet. He will undoubtedly require surgeries on both, but the extent is still unknown.
4/22 Update 33 days- Yesterday, Jamie was moved from the Cleveland Clinic to Aultman Specialty Select, where he will continue his therapy and rehabilitation. He’s much closer to his family, which makes things a bit easier for Jamie Jo. He’s off antibiotics but still undergoing dialysis. He is expected to stay a month at Aultman with physical therapy focused on getting him out of bed and into a chair. After that, he will return to the Cleveland Clinic for surgery and is anticipated to remain in the hospital for another month.
Jamie has a long road ahead, facing multiple surgeries and a long recovery. This will undoubtedly be a challenging journey, requiring patience, resilience, and a strong support system to navigate the physical and emotional trauma.
Any amount you can contribute is greatly appreciated. If you are unable to donate at this time, please share and continue prayers.
