Hello, my name is Tim. I'm a 63-year-old disabled man, and I’m asking for help during a very difficult time for me and my family. I always lived a very independent life, usually disregarded my own needs. That was until I had a mild stroke in 2019. Since then, I have been living with my nephew and his family, who help take care of me. My nephew and his wife have truly done everything they can to help me get healthy and stay healthy, and I’m deeply grateful for the care, patience, and support they have shown me every day. My nephew even gave up his business so he could take care of me and become my Homecare aide, which I cannot fully express how much that sacrifice means to me. Right now, we are all sharing a small 2-bedroom apartment, in a rough neighborhood and it has a serious toxic mold problem. The mold is affecting all of us, and it has taken a real toll on our daily lives. It has drained me of all my energy, worsening the challenges I already face, and creating an unhealthy environment for everyone in our home.

I also live with COPD, and the mold is making my breathing even harder. Our dogs are having breathing problems and skin conditions as well, which has been heartbreaking to watch. My nephew and his wife are also experiencing breathing issues along with other health concerns, yet they still work really hard to give me a safe place to live and help me stay as well as possible, which makes this situation even more painful and heartbreaking l for all of us. We are doing our best, but we need help getting out of this unsafe situation. The support from this fundraiser will help us catch up on back rent and move us into a clean, healthy place where we can start to recover and breathe easier.
