Help Tim Relocate and Reconnect with Family

Donation protected
Howdy friends and family,

I’m organizing this fundraiser for my younger brother, Tim.

With his permission, I’m sharing his story below in his own words. I’ll handle communications and updates, and I’ll make sure donors can see concrete progress as the relocation unfolds.

This fundraiser is primarily for friends and family who may have been wondering how Tim has been doing. As with all of us, life has had its good seasons, messy seasons, and tragic ones.

A few months ago, Tim reached out to explore, slowly and intentionally, reconnecting with friends and family. I agreed to help as a catalyst for that process, with an emphasis on his plan, his next steps, and his willingness to reconnect. I asked him to write a clear, tactical “bullet-points” plan to get from Houston to Norman, Oklahoma. Below is a brief view into the last thirteen years and a concrete plan to change course.

From Tim

I’ve been living in South Houston. On the evening of July 3, my roommate and best friend of 12 years was struck and killed crossing the street near our apartment.

I have steady income working from home for the same company going on seven years (Legacy 4). But the sudden loss of my roommate turned what was once a manageable, minimalist lifestyle into a financial crisis, and I’m facing imminent eviction.

This situation is complicated by two dogs, no vehicle, and health issues that make last-minute logistics harder.

My plan is to relocate to Norman, Oklahoma so I can stay employed and be closer to my son. This move is the most realistic path to stabilizing my life instead of staying stuck in emergency mode.

What I hope to raise and how it will be used

The first milestone is $3,500 as quickly as possible to eliminate risk of eviction at the current apartment through the end of January. The remainder will secure the basics of the move and initial housing costs. We’re continuing to raise beyond that to cover the full set of relocation and landing expenses in Oklahoma up to the campaign goal of $6.5K.

Funds will be used for essentials like:
• Transportation and moving logistics (truck/trailer/courier options, fuel, supplies)
• Temporary lodging if needed during the transition
• Pet travel needs
• Initial housing costs (deposit/first month) so I can land somewhere stable and keep working

Note From Me (Tom):

How funds will be delivered (important note)

Tim is currently unable to complete the ID requirements needed to receive GoFundMe transfers directly. The person who receives funds must be able to complete the platform’s transfer verification.
So I will receive the funds and use them only for the expenses described above—either by paying vendors directly and/or reimbursing Tim for documented moving expenses.

I’ll post updates as milestones are hit (housing secured, move booked, arrival in Norman). If you can donate, thank you. If you can’t, sharing this helps more than you might think.

Thanks!
