Help Tia Care for Her Mother in Her Stage 4 Cancer Fight

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Phillip Hawes. I'm reaching out in support of my sister, Gale Bennett, and her daughter, Tia Bennett. Gale has begun an incredibly tough battle against stage 4 pancreatic cancer - a battle that no one should have to fight alone. My niece, Tia (her general), has put her entire life on hold to care for her mother. She has been by her mother's side almost 24/7. But, as you can imagine, this sacrifice comes with tremendous financial strain.

Gale should not be alone for even a few hours. Tia must be there or find someone to help. Meanwhile, Tia still has her own life to support. She has her own apartment in Maryland, she has car payments, and the same regular bills that everyone must pay. Without any money coming in, and with no paid leave under FMLA, she is stressed out on top of the anguish she feels about her mom's health. Tia has been unable to work full-time for over a month now. She has done some freelance work, but that has not amounted to very much. Freelance work also comes with the risk of leaving her mom alone if no one is available to help. Tia is an only child. She is at this alone. So, she is being pulled in opposite directions – by her mom's side and out to work. Tia applied for state aid in Pennsylvania, but there's no telling when or if any benefits will come from it. Our immediate family is doing what we can, but we need a bigger family, our GoFundMe Family, to help shoulder this burden.

The good news is that despite this heartbreaking challenge, God is working through the love, care, and prayer surrounding Gale. Thanks to the extraordinary efforts of her daughter and her wonderful doctors, Gale's cancer antigen count dropped dramatically, from 31,000 to 18,000 - a result that doctors said they had not seen before! We believe that prayer, love, and God's grace are working! So many people are praying for her, and although I am not deeply religious, I believe prayer is why you are seeing this; it is why you have read this far, and with my eyes welled, I believe it is how I found the words to ask for your help! We are seeing progress. However, we know this is just a small victory of a much longer, more difficult fight before us. This is the beginning; the war is far from over.

We're asking for your help so that Gale's daughter can continue to be by her side as she faces this long road ahead. We expect Tia to be in Pennsylvania for a year or more. Every dollar raised will go toward helping Tia cover her living expenses so she can dedicate herself to caring for her mother. She simply can't do without financial support.

If you know someone who has lost their battle with cancer, or if you've seen firsthand the toll that this evil disease takes on families, please consider donating in memory of those we've lost. Every prayer, every dollar, every share is a step toward victory. With your support, we can help Tia stay by her mother's side and continue this fight together. We are winning, but we need your help to keep going.

Thank you for your kindness, your generosity, and your prayers. Important! Please note that, by default, the GoFundMe website suggests a minimum donation of $200. However, we are grateful for your donation of any amount! Type in the amount you want to give and know that your contribution will be immensely appreciated. We truly believe that together, we can make a difference.

With gratitude and love,
Phillip
