Hi, my name is Kripa and recently, my family and I lost our home of 20 years in Ocho Rios, Saint Ann, due to a devastating house fire. The fire destroyed everything we owned—our home, personal belongings, and irreplaceable sentimental items that can never be replaced.
My parents moved from India to Jamaica over 30 years ago and spent their life savings to build this home in Jamaica. To them, it wasn’t just a house—it was the foundation of everything they worked for. Now, we find ourselves in a heartbreaking situation, with nothing left but the ashes of the life they worked so hard to build.
As I continue my studies in the US, I’ve found myself unable to return to university for the spring semester. The fire destroyed the important documents I need to travel, and without them, I can’t make my way back. The university has advised me to withdraw from this semester, but I am doing everything I can to make it back this semester so I can stay on track with my education.
The financial burden of tuition is becoming even harder to manage, and on top of that, the overwhelming need to help my parents rebuild their lives feels impossible. They would never ask for assistance themselves.
I’ve set up this GoFundMe in the hopes of getting some help during this incredibly challenging time. Any support you can offer, no matter the size, would mean the world to us as we navigate this loss and work to rebuild our lives.
