Help this community newspaper stay funded

Hi everyone,

I’m Daniel Diaz, the co-founder, publisher, editor, and essentially the one-person operation behind The Santanero newspaper. What began as a passion for local journalism has grown into a real community resource—but the financial reality of sustaining it has become increasingly challenging.

Rising expenses, specifically the high interest on my credit card used to keep the paper running, have begun to catch up with me. I’m currently working two part-time jobs just to stay afloat, which leaves very little left to cover publishing costs or invest back into the paper.

Much of this will help pay off our camera equipment and pay for web hosting, renewals of services like Canva and Adobe products, which is not cheap. The rest will help in expanding our coverage to a simple Instagram page to our website and other platforms, including (finally) TikTok.

I’m asking for the community’s support to help ensure The Santanero can continue operating smoothly well into 2026. Funds raised will go toward stabilizing expenses, easing financial pressure, and—if we’re able—taking the next step of hiring our first reporters, whether freelance or permanent. That would allow us to expand coverage and better serve the community moving forward.

If you believe in independent, local journalism and want to help keep this paper alive and growing, any contribution—no matter the size—makes a meaningful difference. Sharing this fundraiser also goes a long way.

Thank you for supporting local news and the people behind it. And if you can't donate, please share.
