A Fresh Start for Me and My Kids — Please Read and Share

Hi everyone,
This is incredibly hard for me to write, but I’m in a place where I need to reach out for help.

A few years ago, I moved out of my home state with my then-husband for his career. I put my own job and community on hold to support our family. Together, we have two wonderful children — an incredible 8-year-old son who is autistic, and a bright, loving 6-year-old daughter.

Since moving, life has taken some unexpected turns. My ex-husband and I separated very unexpectedly, and we now share custody of our kids. I respect him as their father and we are doing our best to co-parent.

After the separation, I entered into another relationship, hoping to find stability and support. Unfortunately, that relationship became emotionally and physically abusive. The man is now in jail for felony strangulation. Because the home we lived in was his, I’m now without stable housing and may need to enter a shelter. I worry deeply about the impact this would have on my children — and I fear it could affect my custody as well.

I’ve found a rental home that would be a safe place for me and my kids to start fresh. But I need help with the deposit and some basic costs to get us settled. My car is also in disrepair, making job hunting and everyday tasks nearly impossible. Childcare is another huge hurdle — especially because of my son’s unique needs, which make traditional options nearly impossible.

I’m doing everything I can to protect, love, and care for my kids — but I can’t do this alone. I don’t have family nearby or a support system to fall back on.
