Help My Friend Experience Motherhood Again Through Surrogacy
My dear friend has endured unimaginable trauma. After a devastating medical tragedy during the birth of her first child, she was left unable to carry more children. Her story is one of pain, survival, and resilience—but also of an unfulfilled dream.
She longs to grow her family, to give her son a sibling, and to experience the joy of a newborn in her arms again. Surrogacy is her only option, but the financial burden is overwhelming.
Every donation will go directly toward medical expenses, legal fees, and the incredible woman who will help make this dream a reality. If you cannot donate, please consider sharing her story.
She has suffered enough. Let’s help give her the gift of hope, healing, and a future filled with love.
This is her story: “I’ve always been very reserved about sharing what happened after I had Wyatt, mainly to protect my own mental space. The past 2.5 years have been a long, painful journey of healing—physically and emotionally—with the help of my therapist, my friends, and my family. I also never wanted people to feel bad for me or see this as an excuse or just another trauma story. But as more people ask about what happened, and as our dear friend Brittney is helping us raise funds to expand our family, I feel like it’s finally time to share.
Because what happened to me should never happen to anyone.
October 5th was the best day of my life—and the most terrifying.
I had spent months preparing for an unmedicated birth, researching every detail and mentally strengthening myself for the challenge. And I did it. I delivered my son, Wyatt, in a peaceful water birth, exactly as I had dreamed. Everything was perfect—until it wasn’t.
Minutes after delivery, as I held my newborn, my midwife suspected a piece of my placenta was still inside me. Without hesitation, without confirming, she reached inside with her hand. The pain was indescribable, but what happened next was beyond anything I could have imagined.
She didn’t find a placenta. She ripped out my uterus.
Yes, you read that right. Thinking she was retrieving retained placenta, she pulled my uterus from my body with her bare hands. Blood poured out of me. My son was ripped from my arms. Chaos erupted as I hemorrhaged, my life draining away with every second. I was rushed to the hospital, losing so much blood that I required three full-body transfusions and emergency surgery. The surgeon had no choice—a hysterectomy was my only chance at survival.
Before they wheeled me into the operating room, he told my family he wasn’t sure I would make it.
By a miracle, I survived. But the damage was done. My dream of carrying more children was stolen from me in the most violent way imaginable.
We fought for justice, but despite multiple law firms agreeing we had a case, no one would take it—because I lived. Because the “standard of care” was somehow followed. Meanwhile, other families have suffered at the hands of this same birth center, and an investigation is finally underway.
I grieve for the babies I will never carry, for the trauma I endured, and for the unimaginable pain my family witnessed as they stood helpless, wondering if I would survive.
Now, we face overwhelming medical debt and the impossible cost of surrogacy if we ever hope to grow our family. A dear friend has set up a GoFundMe to help us on this journey, and every share, every donation—no matter how small—means the world to us.
Thank you for reading. Thank you for caring. And above all, thank you for helping us heal.”
