The Youth Closet & Toy Chest is in a critical situation- we need to raise $12,000 to keep our doors open.
Why? The Youth Closet has less than one month to move out of its current location. Eagle Valley Behavioral Health, a program of Vail Health, has been a wonderful supporter of the Youth Closet since 2020. Vail Health provided a central location and affordable rent that allowed United Way to grow the Youth Closet into the program it is today. Our team is exceptionally grateful for Vail Health's support! However, we need to find a new home by December 31. Without significant financial assistance, we will have to close our doors. We have compassionate and dedicated staff who have made the Youth Closet a fantastic resource that welcomes and wraps around every family in need. We don't want these services to end as there is no alternative in the Valley! Everything is FREE for families! Please consider giving whatever you can towards the Youth Closet and securing a new space for this incredible community resource. This goal will help cover first, last, and current rent along with moving costs. For more about what we do, see below!
Community Need:
- 516 families served so far in 2022
- 30% need infant essentials (diapers, wipes, etc.)
- 55% are repeat clients
- 2,000+ items given each week!
- 1,287 families served since 2020
Testimonials:
“I have been struggling because I am going through a divorce, and being a single mom after 6 years isn't easy. I have been living paycheck to paycheck. I posted on Moms need mom's Facebook group looking for cheap hand me downs. One of the mom's referred me to the United Way Eagle River youth closet. Not only was everything free, I felt welcomed by the staff. My kids were having a blast playing with toys while I picked stuff out. The kids all got to bring some toys home as well. Now that I was able to get help with clothing I don't have to stress as hard, and can get caught up more on some late bills. I cannot stress enough how important these resources are for families. I am truly grateful to you guys for the amazing support during these difficult times.” -Audrey
“You guys are always so nice and what you are doing has truly made these hard times a little easier. Thank you so so much. I hope you guys are around for a long time. Thank you” -Anonymous
