In 2004, the Yoder sisters were rejected/shunned from their Amish community in Ethridge, TN to start a new life on their own. They have faced serious health issues, very limited income, and little to no support from their former community.
In 2015, the First United Methodist Church helped them with food and assisted them in signing up for food stamps. In 2021, they also helped them find shelter in a small storage shed, since their home had slowly been collapsing around them.
Now, in 2025, the Seventh-Day Adventist Church family, as well as other friends and people, have come together to rebuild – tearing down the old, unsafe home and constructing a new one with electricity, indoor plumbing, and proper space to store what they harvest from their garden.
So far, about $30,000 has been raised, and $25,000 more is needed to finish the home and give these kind and humble sisters a warm, safe place to live out their years with dignity.
Please consider helping the Yoder sisters finish their home – every donation makes a difference.
