Dear beloved family, friends, and the entire Burning Man community, with a mix of sadness and determination, I'm sharing the shocking news that our cherished Whomp Wagon fell victim to a devastating fire 48 hours ago. Thankfully, no one was hurt, and we're grateful for the Reno Fire Department's swift response in saving as much as possible. The investigation suggests that the fire, started by homeless individuals seeking warmth, spread to our partially reclaimed barn wood structure—no fault of our own.
As we mourn the loss of our beloved creation, we're reminded of the Whomp Wagon's legacy in spreading joy through music to hundreds of thousands of people worldwide. Our crew and volunteers, though heartbroken, are ready to rise from the ashes like the Phoenix. With 129 days left before the next burn, we've got an incredible task ahead. I'm grateful for the outpouring support and now, we're turning to you for help.
A GoFundMe & PayPal campaign have been set up to rebuild, and every contribution counts. We've dedicated countless hours to this project, but we can't do it alone. There is no insurance coverage for the custom fabrication costs. I'm asking you to share this with everyone we know, the music industry, and through every Burning Man social media outlet we can. The Whomp Wagon has brought joy to people in every corner of the globe, and with your help, we can keep spreading that joy. Without your support, our mission may come to an end. Let's make the most of this moment! Lastly, if the last fire the Whomp Wagon produced was to keep our fellow brothers and sisters from freezing on a cold night, it makes my heart break a little less!
❤️ Love always with passion!
