Help the Family of Rhoda Weaver find a Home

This fundraiser is for Rhoda Weaver and family's housing crisis. Rhoda is a prominent, hardworking, and beloved member of the WNC/Asheville community, particularly in her work as a singer who frequently performs at various local and regional venues. If you know Rhoda, you may already know that after renting a home in Fairview, NC for about eight years, caring for it as their own, the owner decided to sell the property offering only about 45 days of notice to Rhoda and her family. To top if off, her husband is scheduled for surgery in the coming month, furthering limiting the family's capability and amplifying the pressure to handle this without community help!

We here in Buncombe and surrounding counties know how tight the housing market is. Each landlord or agency has their pick of applicants for each rental. While many of us offer thoughts and prayers, we believe this to be a situation in which, in most cases, the only way to truly help is with money or an offering of reasonable housing if you can. We need immediate harm reduction by raising enough money to allow this family to pay some rent in advance (to make them more likely to be chosen by prospective landlords) and also to cover the costs of moving, deposit, etc.

We all know the drill. There is no one to take care of "us" but us in many cases, and this is one of them. $1, $5, whatever--droplets turn into puddles. Let's come together, WNC, for this family who is in dire and immediate need!
