Help Build the Wayne Bear Brooks Community Center
The Vulcan Pioneers of New Jersey — an organization of dedicated Black firefighters committed to service, education, and empowerment — are raising funds to bring our vision of the Wayne Bear Brooks Community Center to life in the heart of Newark.
This center will serve as a hub for youth mentorship, fire service training, job readiness programs, and community outreach initiatives. It will be home to our renowned Vulcan Pioneers Explorers Program, which introduces young men and women ages 16–24 to careers in firefighting and public safety, as well as a safe space for after-school tutoring, workshops, and neighborhood events.
Our goal is to create a lasting legacy that honors the late Wayne Bear Brooks, a trailblazing Newark firefighter whose leadership and love for the community continue to inspire generations.
Funds raised will go toward:
• Securing and renovating a permanent facility
• Classroom and training equipment
• Youth program materials and safety gear
• Community outreach and scholarship initiatives
Every contribution — big or small — brings us closer to a space that uplifts our youth, strengthens families, and preserves the proud legacy of Black firefighters in Newark.
Join us in building the future of service, leadership, and opportunity.
Donate today and help make the Wayne Bear Brooks Community Center a reality.
