Help the Victims of the Bongobazar Fire Incident

On 3rd April, a fire incident took place in the famous Bongo Bazar market in Dhaka. The Bongo Bazar markets and three adjacent markets had been gutted in the dawn fire . More than 5000 shops had been burned down within a few hours with goods in it and more than 40,000 workers had lost their jobs just before eid.

Many shopkeepers took out loans and bought new collections of clothes keeping Eid in mind but all of that was burnt to ashes as a fire ripped through the market. But they still have to pay the loan.

One of the affected businessmen, Didar Hossain, expressed his heartbreak, saying, "I had a shop with new clothes worth Tk 10 lakh for Eid. Everything has turned to ashes."

Another businessman, Awlad Hossain, said, "We have nothing left. The fire has shattered all our hopes."

"I have turned into a beggar … How will I maintain my family?" said another shop owner

The loss is irreversible. We are aiming to raise 7000 usd to help 50 families who lost almost their everything due to the fire.

৩রা এপ্রিলে আগুনে দগ্ধ হয় বঙ্গবাজার এবং আসে পাশের কিছু মার্কেট। পাঁচ হাজারের বেশি দোকান , কাপড় সহ আগুনে পুড়ে ছাই হয়ে যায়। চল্লিশ হাজারেরও বেশি কর্মী ঈদের আগে চাকরি হারা হয়।

অনেক ছোট মাপের ব্যবসায়ী টাকা ধার করে, লোন নিয়ে ঈদকে সামনে রেখে নতুন কাপড় কিনে দোকান সাজায়। এসব কিছু এখন অতীত। সব কাপড় পুড়ে ছাই, কিন্তু তারা এখনো ঋণী , তাদের লোন এখনো পরিশোধ করা বাকি।

এই ক্ষতি অকল্পনীয়। এর ক্ষতিপূরণ সম্ভব নয়। আসুন আমরা সবাই একত্রে হয়ে সাত হাজার ডলার উঠানোর চেষ্টা করি যাতে আমরা অন্তন্ত পঞ্চাশ থেকে সত্তরটা ফ্যামিলির আর্থিক ভাবেও কিছুটা হলেও সাহায্য করতে পারি।
