Fuel Change: Empower Trans-Masc Community in Jamaica

Cari-Trans is a non-profit Support Group, operating in Jamaica. Founded in July 2023, the vision was created out of a need safe spaces and security for many Transmen & Transmasculine persons in Jamaica and the Caribbean.

Membership

Currently, approximately 30 members make up Cari-Trans support group, and we are the only Transman lead group, focused on support services by us for us, with a peer-led initiative for Transmen & Transmasculine persons.

We emerged based on a gap discovered by a needs assessment, from a notable void in community interactions & engagement that lacked specific visible representation of the transmen and trans-masc persons in Jamaica and throughout the Caribbean.

Mission

Our mission is to provide a comprehensive support for Transgender men and those who identify as Transmasculine.

For persons of consenting ages within the community who want to be surrounded by peers or like-minded individuals in a safe space to share and learn. To create an environment physically & virtually to raise awareness of challenges this demographic share and face collectively with a solution-based approach.

Trans Masculine Support in Jamaica

Currently, there is only one type of testosterone available in Jamaica, and has proven to be cost prohibitive.

Consequently, our fund raising efforts will also include providing testosterone and therapy to persons seeking to start their transition journey.

Purpose of Funds

This GoFundMe would assist us with getting a safe space that we can utilize for our in-person sessions twice a month, registering the support group, a Zoom subscription, furniture for the space, and funding so we can access safe transport for those who may have difficulty attending sessions, reliable laptops, journals, material to make binders, assistance with name their change, provide temporary shelter and food to those who need it. We will also offer testosterones support and therapy for persons wanting to medical transition, coupled with care packages.
