GRADING HAS ALREADY BEGUN!
We are asking Torrey Hills residents to please rise up and let their voices be heard! This community does not want Breakthrough
Properties Development, who has acquired the property at the Northwest corner of El Camino Real and Carmel Mountain Rd, build a
huge 467,000 sq ft research and development campus with a 1525 space parking structure. Mayor Gloria has issued a Ministerial
Building Permit and grading permit to start project #693349. The City and developer have completely sidestepped the recommendation of the City Development Services Department and the Torrey Hills Community Planning Group.
The Planning Group specifically requires to have coordination with the City and the developer to ensure that new developments, in their
size and scope, do not change the community character and that it is sensitive to our local environment and traffic concerns. This
coordination requirement is specifically outlined in Council Policy 600-24, as well as Article 2 of the Torrey Hills Community Planning
Groups ByLaws, as outlined on pages 52-53; items 8 and 9. When a development's review is not afforded us, the community is denied ANY
opportunity for input, comment, or to protest the project. It is imperative that we have a say.
The Coalition needs donations of $5,500 in order to retain Counsel who emphasizes in environmental,
land use, and real estate law, to begin our fight. Here's how you can help.
