Hey everyone,
My name is Alysha and I am here to help raise some money for two of my very good friends and their babies. Kyle and Alyssa are two of the worlds best people and they have been dealt some of the worst cards these last few weeks. Their little man Wyatt has been diagnosed with Kawasakis disease, we all say cancer sucks (which it does REALLY BAD) but this disease sucks just as much. There is so much that is unknown. Wyatts situation has been worsening daily and both Kyle (electrician) and Alyssa (military) have been out of work for weeks now taking care of Wyatt and his baby sister Addi. They are going be out of work for an unknown amount of time while Alyssa has been living at Childrens with Wyatt, Kyle has been going from home (the cape) to Boston daily taking care of his family in both places. They are going to face some major financial burdens between household and medical bills. So I am here asking for any help you can give they would give the world to everyone else so lets help them too!
Here is a message from Alyssa a few days ago before things got even worse.
”Hey Everyone!
I just wanted to tell people what's going on with Wyatt so there is no misunderstood information. Wyatt was diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease (KD). KD is an acute systemic illness characterized by inflammation of the blood vessels. This disease is a leading cause of acquire heart disease in children. The cause is still unknown due to how rare it is. Kawasaki disease causes widespread inflammation of blood vessels throughout the body, with a predilection for the coronary arteries. Now that you have a general understanding of this horrible disease, here is Wyatt's update. Wyatt has one of the more severe cases. His arteries are swollen and the doctors goal is for them not to get worse. He already had 2 IVIG treatments and a blood transfusion. He is on steroids, aspirin and heart medications to help prevent any blood clots. He has been having multiple echocardiograms to make sure the arteries do not get worse. He is currently in the cardiac ICU as a precaution and just had a CT scan because they thought he had a clot. GOOD NEWS he does NOT have a clot. Also, his inflammation markers are improving. They are currently putting in a PICC line so they can administer a stronger medication to help the with the inflammation. This medication will suppress his immune system but not for long. I'm not sure how much longer they want to keep us in the ICU. However, after the ICU they will put us back on the cardiac floor. We do not know how long we will be in here and will need extensive care after he is released. Meaning keeping up with the steroids, aspirin, and heart medications. After being release he still has about an 8 week recovery. We are trying to stay positive but if the coronary arteries enlarge too much he may be on medication for life or may need surgery (worst case scenario). All we can do is pray for baby boy to get better and let the doctors do their jobs. If you have any questions feel free to reach out. Kyle is at home with Addison and has been driving back and forth every day. As for me I have been staying with my little man since this all has started. Kyle has given me the option to go home but, I rather stay with Wyatt right now. If anything else changes I will try to do another update post. I hope this clears things up for anyone who has gotten bits and pieces of information.”
