We're helping 380 elementary school students who attend the Xongo Primary School in Nquthu, South Africa. Most of the students who attend the Xongo Primary School come from families whose parents are unemployed and rely on government grants for their everyday life.
At the beginning of every school year, students receive a basic package of stationery from the government that includes exercise books, a pen, a pencil, an eraser, and a ruler, which is supposed to last them the entire school year. They are required to depend on their parents to provide the additional supplies they need.
Since many parents cannot afford to buy these necessities, this becomes a huge challenge and makes day-to-day learning very difficult, especially when students are unable to complete class activities because they simply do not have the proper materials.
We’re raising money to provide essential school supplies for the students at the Xongo Primary School. We will be purchasing and shipping these supplies through Amazon South Africa.
A teacher from the Xongo Primary School, in collaboration with the administration, requested the following items: pens, pencils, erasers, markers, backpacks, art books, costumes and props, as well as tablets.
