Hi There
My name is Melissa Delaware, I've been a resident in the Springfield Lakes community for the past 10 years.
As many of you may know our little community was devastated around 2.15 pm on Saturday 31 October 2020 when one of the worst hail storms in Australia's history destroyed homes and cars of hundreds and hundreds of residents. Almost no one was spared.
While some of us suffered minor damage such as dents to our cars or destroyed solar panels - others had every single car on their property written off and with so many hailstones coming through their roof, their ceilings collapsed leaving them homeless and destroying their contents in the process.
I was one of the lucky ones with fairly minor damage - however I've been helping in the local community and have been heartbroken over the level of devastation.
Right now it seems people need assistance with moving their contents to a safe space. We, unfortunately, had yet another storm go through today (5/11/20) which would have no doubt destroyed some people's belongings - so we need to help move people's things fast.
While there is some manpower on the ground trying to help - we can only do so much - we need some professionals and we need it fast!
I have asked the local removalists companies and they have advised on average it will cost around $450 to move the average family. Of course in some cases more in some cases less.
Any way it is my aim to raise enough money to help around 100 families and so raise around $45,000 (a little more to cover the Go Fund Me fees). If I raise less money I will help less families - if I raise more I will help more families. If I somehow raise a crazy amount of money I will move on to the next essential thing families need - but I can guarantee you every last cent will go to helping the families of the Greater Springfield Lakes community who were impacted by the storms on 31/11/20.
I will be very transparent with where the money is spent - so everyone knows and can be comfortable with how the money is being spent. If you donate and you are not happy with how the funds are contributed then I urge you to contact me to speak your mind.
But I wish to start distributing the money ASAP - I do not want to sit and wait because people need help now! Before another storm comes through and destroys the last bit of personal items they have.
If you wish to donate - I urge you to give now - we need money to move people now and not later.
If you cannot donate cash but wish to donate your time and manpower - then please get in contact with me because there is plenty of people who need that too.
And to those who donate - thank you - the Greater Springfield community appreciate it.
