Hi, I’m Kelli Hendrickson — Founder and Principal Instigator of the Stories of Women in Fluids (SOWIF) Initiative

I’m a fluid dynamicist, a researcher, and a career and leadership coach — but at my core, I’m a storyteller and an advocate for women in science.

I founded SOWIF to create a written platform that celebrates and amplifies the journeys of women — especially women of color — in fluid dynamics and related fields. Our mission is simple but powerful: to inspire the next generation of girls to see themselves in science, and to support women already in these careers with stories of resilience, belonging, and growth.

We were fortunate to receive a government grant that covered the majority of our publication costs as part of a STEM-based outreach initiative. Unfortunately, in April, our grant was unexpectedly terminated because the project was deemed to “no longer effectuate the program goals or agency priorities.”

We are now at the finish line, with the manuscripts complete and the vision ready to come to life — but we need your help to cross it.
