Hi, my name is Justin A. Sock and I'm raising money so the Sock family can keep our house.
In Oct 2024, I was laid off due to my employer being run by private equity. I was given severance which lasted the rest of 2024, then I pulled unemployment which kept us afloat until July. Mrs. Sock was able to find employment at the time unemployment ended, but it barely doesn't cover everything. She works several 12-hour shifts and picks up extra ones when able, but it takes a lot out on her.
We had an emergency septic issue earlier last month, which took $1.3k out of our finances to fix. We've canceled everything except for utilities and internet/phone. We're on SNAP, which helps cover food, but we make too much for cash assistance, but not enough to cover bills and mortgage.
My son is twenty, doesn't drive, and is autistic. Currently, we are unable to get him proper government assistance resources due to not having his medical diagnosis documentation. His original diagnosis was 14 years ago in another state, which has proven difficult to obtain. We tried to get his records through his schools, but they don't seem to have them despite needing them to put him on his IEP. We've tried to request his medical records from the clinics we went to, but that has been fruitless. We're trying to work on getting him re-diagnosed, but that also requires money we don't have.
I've been applying to several jobs constantly every day for over a year now and being ghosted by 99.9% of jobs; the rest I get the rare rejection letters. I'm currently applying to seasonal local jobs, but even if I get hired next week, we still won't have enough by the end of the month. Anything extra would go towards bills for next month, but we hope to be back on our feet by then. We only have one vehicle, so even if my son or I would get employment, we'd have to find some way to buy a secondary vehicle and hope employers would be kind/flexible enough to accommodate.
If you are unable to assist financially (which I understand, times are tough), any amount of sharing/signal boosting would be heavily appreciated.
Most humbly appreciative,
Justin A. Sock and the Sock family.
