Support the Elhaj Family During Mustafa’s Medical Crisis
The Elhaj family of five is facing one of the most difficult moments of their lives.
Their 17-year-old son, Mustafa, a junior at Centennial High School and a dedicated soccer player, has been in the ICU for over a month after developing a severe MRSA bacterial infection. Mustafa is the oldest of two younger siblings, making this incredibly difficult time especially hard for the entire family.
The infection led to septic shock and caused ARDS, a life-threatening condition that took away his ability to breathe on his own.
Mustafa spent 20 days on ECMO and has also been on a ventilator while doctors work tirelessly to help his body heal. He has also suffered septic embolisms in his spine, making his condition even more serious and adding to the challenges of his recovery.
His parents, Kamal and Shaheera, have remained tirelessly by Mustafa’s side every single day in the ICU, supporting him through this frightening and emotional journey. Because they are constantly at the hospital caring for their son, they have been unable to work during this time while also caring for their two younger children at home.
Watching such a strong and active young man fight through something so serious has been heartbreaking for their family and for everyone who knows them.
Mustafa remains in the ICU continuing to fight and recover. When he is strong enough to leave the hospital, he will still face a long road ahead and will need extensive rehabilitation, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy to regain his strength.
During this incredibly difficult time, the Elhaj family needs the support of their community so they can focus entirely on Mustafa’s healing and recovery.
Any donation, no matter how small, will help relieve the financial burden of lost income and the long recovery process ahead. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser and keeping Mustafa and his family in your prayers would mean so much.
Thank you for supporting the Elhaj family during this incredibly difficult time.
