My name is Mollie and I’m an 8th grade student at Belding Elementary School. I have been researching the issue of Diaper Poverty in Chicago for my IB project, and have launched this drive to help support my local non-profit organization, Share Our Spare. According to the Illinois Early Childhood Asset Map, more than 40,000 children ages 0-5 in Chicago live below the poverty line. Local non-profit Share Our Spare reports that diaper costs have risen by almost 50% since the Covid 19 pandemic. Share Our Spare aims to disrupt cycles of generational poverty by providing families with the essentials they need to flourish in the first years of a child's life.
