Help the Sawyer family in their time of mourning

It is with a heavy heart that I must share the passing January 11, 2023, of a very special mother, nanny, sister and friend, Kathy Sawyer.

Kathy was born August 6, 1957, living in several Texas cities before arriving in San Marcos. While she worked in several jobs in her life, her favorite role was that of

mother/wife. Kathy’s battle with ovarian cancer began in August 2021. Since then, she endured constant treatment as she valiantly strived to stay ahead of this deadly disease.

Kathy is survived by her son Jeremiah (Jess), daughter Jennifer (Hector), her precious granddaughter Eva, Roger, and her many family members.

As I have scrolled through Facebook in the short time she has been gone, the number

of people who are mourning the passing of their best friend is a testament to the person she was. Known as “Momma Bear” for her fierce loyalty and protection of those she loved, she made and loved friends everywhere she worked, lived or just visited! Kathy loved to laugh, loved to cook for her family and friends, loved the beach, loved her country music and dancing a two-step – and you better be wearing your cowboy boots to dance with her! Kathy loved her family most of all.

There will be a service for Kathy Saturday 1/21 at Thomason Funeral Home with a viewing from 1- 3 and

service from 3 – 4 pm. There will be a Celebration of Life following the service.

As we all adjust to life without Kathy here with us, please show your love by helping her family. Donate generously as they cope with the funeral expenses as well as medical expenses that occurred over these months of her illness.
