Nicole Rivera is not just my coworker she’s a dear friend, and right now, she and her family are facing an unimaginable tragedy.

Earlier today, their home caught fire. Nicole was at work when she received the devastating call, while her husband was just preparing to leave for his shift. In the midst of it all, their only priority was getting out safely and thankfully, he and their two young children, ages 1 and 5, made it out unharmed.

But in a matter of moments, everything they built was gone.

Nicole is currently pregnant, expecting a new baby in August or September, which makes this heartbreaking situation even more overwhelming. Instead of preparing a nursery and welcoming new life, they are now trying to figure out where they will sleep, how they will provide for their children, and how to begin again.

At this time, Nicole and her family are without a home. They don’t have close by family to lean on, and both parents are now facing time away from work as they navigate the next steps. The emotional toll is heavy, and the financial burden is even greater.
