Hi, my name is Lacë, I live in Toronto, Canada and I am trying my best to help my god children and their family that live in St.Ann Jamaica.
On October 28 hurricane Melissa ripped through the island of Jamaica and damaged or destroyed the lives of many Jamaicans. One of those families is the Ricketts, Ricardo, Teneisha, Zari and Matthew. I met Ricardo many years ago while vacationing in Jamaica and since then have become a god mother to his children and they have become what I consider family. Several years ago, I set up a gofundme for the church that Ricardo preaches at to build a baptism pool and now I'm setting this one up to help them recover from the impact Melissa has had on their lives.
They had planned to be moving to the property where the church is to have their own home and Melissa has created many issues for them to follow through with this plan. The church itself has some severe damage to its roof and the home that they were supposed to move into was also badly damaged. The funds raised here will go directly to the Ricketts family so they are able to get their house ready to move into and also help contribute towards the repairs of the roof on the church. Teneisha is a school teacher and Ricardo works at the bauxite plant, they both work very hard not just to provide for their own family but also have taken in Teneishas cousins children when she passed away last year. This family has been through so much and have been working hard to get their home in shape to live in and Melissa has disrupted everything they had planned for. It would mean a lot to me and to the Ricketts if you are able to contribute to making this happen. It's going to be a long road for many Jamaicans to get back to the lives they had before the hurricane, any little bit helps.
