Hello! We are the Reyes family of four & our cat! Early this week, December 4th, 2025, we received a very disheartening email regarding our home being put up for sale. We have orders to vacate by Feb 28th, 2025. We have been renting here for 3 years & made this house a home and we are completely blindsided and unprepared.

We have a 16-year-old, a 6-year-old, and a cat. I work with the disabled community. My husband was let go of his job early spring 2024, from their had a few temporary jobs, numerous interviews with no success and then finally at the end of October 2025 he was hired as a PE instructor at a private school in west Des Moines. We have been living off of each paycheck and haven’t been able to save much money.

This news falling in the holiday season & also in the middle of winter has us feeling worried and honestly stressed. We are seeking help from our community to gather a down payment for a home & help with moving costs. The uncertainty of where we will be living is keeping us up all night as we don’t have the financial resources for a down payment or moving costs. If there’s a realtor out there that is willingly to help us, we are desperate in finding a home for our children even if it’s to rent.

As parents we are keeping strong for our girls but we are very very worried. Thank you to everyone who took the time to read this.
