I got a text yesterday morning from my niece, Rebecca. She lives in Eagleville, Pennsylvania. Rebecca and husband John Satterlee-Doerr experienced every homeowner’s worst nightmare—a devastating house fire that took everything.

In a matter of moments, their home and all of their belongings were gone. Clothes, keepsakes, daily essentials… the pieces of a life built over time—lost. She told me today that she forgot what we all take so for granted, a toothbrush, a towel, clean pants to put on. Most heartbreakingly, they also lost their beloved cat in the fire, a loss that adds an unimaginable layer of grief to an already overwhelming situation.

Rebecca and John are now facing the difficult road of starting over from scratch. While we are incredibly grateful they are safe, the emotional and financial impact of this tragedy is immense.

Replacing basic household items

Beginning the long process of rebuilding their lives
