Dealing with Danon
Hoping to bring some kind of relief to the Rankins family. If You don’t know Trey, Lindsay and Landon, they are three of the most amazing people you will ever meet.
In 2014 Landon(Trey and Lindsay’s son)was diagnosed with Danon disease, a rare genetic disorder. Landon’s diagnosis ultimately saved Lindsay’s life as she was living with it, but had no symptoms until the Dr. recommended her to be tested. Life would never be the same.
Fast forward to 2019….Lindsays heart began to fail and was put on the transplant list here in New Orleans. After almost two years of waiting on the list in New Orleans, an unfortunate situation landed Lindsay in San Diego on their waiting list. A silver lining appeared as she received her new heart a few weeks later on May 8th, 2022. She remained in San Diego recovering for a few months. During all of this Trey traveled back and forth to San Diego juggling being a husband, a parent and working to keep his new small business afloat. Since then Lindsay has continued to Travel back and forth to San Diego for testing and Check ups. Trey will accompany Lindsay as needed, but the expense of traveling adds up.
In August of 2024 they went to Philadelphia in hopes of Landon receiving a new gene therapy which would prevent him from needing a new heart through a trial. After 2 months of medical testing and preparation they put the gene therapy on hold sending the family back to New Orleans.
This gene therapy has been given to 23 other patients successfully with minor complications. Landon was the last recipient before this procedure was released as an official treatment.
In February, Landon was called back to Philadelphia but had to start over with testing, immunization shots, isolation, etc.. On May 1st, Landon finally received his gene therapy treatment. Unfortunately after just 5-days, Landon’s body started to reject the treatment and was admitted into icu. On May 8th at 3am His kidneys started to fail and his blood pressure dropped to 40/20. He was then sedated, given a breathing tube and put on ecmo. As of now Landon is still sedated but somewhat stable. He will be In Philadelphia for quite some time with an extensive road to recovery ahead of him.
Unfortunately, Danon Disease has taken its toll on them financially as well. The years of traveling and dual living expenses have been out of pocket expenses. Although being in Philadelphia with his son and wife is most important, Treys business expenses haven’t stopped. They have always donated and participated in helping others, expecting nothing in return. Please do what you can to help not give this family a hand out, but a hand back up.
If you would like to send it directly to them you can use the following:

All funds collected will go directly toward the continued expenses of being in Philadelphia and any additional medical expenses that aren’t covered.
Landon passed today 5-25-25. Going to leave this up to continue help the Rankins recover financially and now cover memorial expenses.
