We’re Kat and Kim, hosts of The Plus SideZ Podcast, and we’re reaching out to our community for support as we take our advocacy to the next level. At the end of July, we’ll be attending the Obesity Action Coalition Conference in Washington, DC, a unique opportunity to learn from experts, connect with advocates, and deepen our understanding of obesity and GLP-1 treatments. This isn’t just another event for us—it’s a chance to bring back new insights and resources to share with our listeners, helping us fight misinformation and amplify the voices of those living with obesity.


Our journey started when we realized how much silence and misinformation surrounded obesity and GLP-1 medications. The Plus SideZ Podcast was born from a need to go deeper, to ask tough questions, and to help others understand that obesity is a disease—not a personal failure. Kim’s experience with GLP-1 medication was life-changing, revealing that biology and science, not willpower, were at the heart of her struggle. We created the podcast to reach those who feel alone, to let them know it’s not their fault, and to advocate for justice and access for all.


We’re also planning to join a peaceful protest in October with the GLP-1 Collective, a nonprofit fighting for affordable access to these medications, also in Washington, DC. To make this possible, we need help covering travel, food, hotel, and event tickets. Every contribution will help us attend these events, bring back valuable knowledge, and continue our mission to support and empower our community.
