Hey everyone! This little guy is Konnor Oakland. He is 2 years old. Happy, active, and tender-hearted. The week before July 4th weekend he ended up in the hospital with a diagnosis of type 1 diabetes. His life, and family’s life, forever changed. He will now face many finger pokes a day to check his blood sugar and several injections of insulin on top of that. Mom and Dad’s new challenge will be attempting the impossible task of being a “human pancreas” each day as they calculate Konnor’s intake of food and try to balance that with the right amount of insulin at the right times.
◦ This is an impossible task but can be helped greatly by new equipment including an insulin pump and a continuous glucose monitor. And by the way, Tyler, Konnors dad, has diabetes too.
◦ We want to help make this transition a whole lot better for their family by providing matching insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors ($4,500 dollars each) for both Tyler and Konnor and help with the hospital expenses (most of which is not covered under insurance), as well.
◦ Please consider helping relieve the burden of these costs and allowing them to have the much-needed equipment that will provide the best care possible for their family.
Thank you !!
