Help the Miranda Family After Hurricane Ida
Please help this incredible family of 4, plus their puppy, rebuild their lives. A hardworking father, dedicated mother, 16 year old daughter, and 13 month old daughter have lost everything they own except the clothes on their backs.
On Wednesday, 9/1/2021 at 10:30 pm, the Schuylkill River began to flood into the street, surrounding their first floor apartment. The basement where many of their personal items were stored was filled within 2 short hours and the flood waters began to take over their living quarters.
The family evacuated their apartment after calling 911, leaving all of their belongings behind, and went to the apartment above them while waiting to be water rescued. By the time water rescue arrived, the water was waist high. The mother carried her 13 month old baby into the boat, while the daughter, father and dog clung to each other and climbed in.
After returning to their home the next day, they learned that every single one of their belongings is deemed unsalvageable. Luckily, they have family close by to stay with during this hard time. However, that is all they have.
Please help us support our neighbors during this devastating time.
