We are raising funds to help keep the Mino family dream alive. Mariana and her husband, Gilberto, came to the US eighteen years ago in pursuit of the American dream. Since then, they have worked hard to build a life and community in Queens, NY. Mariana has kept herself busy by offering housekeeping services to families that adore her while Gilberto works maintenance at a local high school. After almost fifteen years of this taxing work, they have finally saved enough money to start their family business. El Huarache, a Mexican Grill, has been their dream and they are beginning to see the fruits of their labor. They even signed a lease for a retail location!

However, they have encountered some barriers as they embark on their business-owner journey. They have had issues getting the necessary permits as the location they leased seems to have some maintenance issues that need to be resolved by their landlord. Because Mariana and Gilberto are both Spanish-speakers, filling out applications and paperwork in English has also caused delays to their opening. As a result, they have been paying rent for El Huarache without the income stream they were expecting while still working their full-time jobs. They need our help!! And every bit counts!!! We're raising funds to allow them to keep paying rent until they can officially get started.
