Help The McMurray's After Altadena (Eaton) Fire
Donation protected
Family and Friends,
I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to share that my husband’s family home, the beloved Snaer/McMurray home of three generations, was recently lost in the devastating Eaton wildfires in Altadena, CA. This was more than a house, it was the heart of the Snaer/McMurray family, a place where decades of love, laughter, and cherished memories were made.
This home held so much life. It was where the family gathered, and had many barbecues, and pool parties. It was a playground for children, a haven for laughter, and a sanctuary for love. This was not just a house; it was once home to many. All of it has been reduced to a memory, one etched forever in our hearts but no longer standing. This tragedy has shaken not only our family but the entire community, leaving countless lives in distress as they try to pick up the pieces.
We are incredibly grateful that Cheryl and Dennis McMurray made it out safely. However, they have lost everything. They evacuated with minimal belongings, some cherished photos, a change of clothes, important documents, and the ashes of our beloved Curtis (Kool Dude) and Fairlight (Grandma Faye). Everything else, every piece of their lives built over decades, is gone. While they are still processing this unimaginable loss, we are coming together to help them navigate the immediate challenges of rebuilding their lives. This home wasn’t just a structure; it was a sanctuary, a legacy, and a testament to years of hard work, love, and resilience. The heartbreak of seeing it reduced to ashes is something no one should ever have to endure.
Those who know Cheryl and Dennis know the beautiful people they both are. They have tremendous hearts, are kind, giving, always positive, and so strong. Even through this devastation, they find a way to smile every day. They’ve always been the first to offer help and comfort to others, and now it’s our turn to rally around them with the same love and generosity they’ve shown to so many.
Cheryl and Dennis, embody the spirit and resilience of Altadena. They have dedicated their lives to serving and enriching the community they call home. Despite facing the devastating loss of their home, their unwavering love for their community is unquestionable. With decades of deep-rooted connection to Altadena, they are committed to uplifting their neighbors and community in their effort to start over.
We are asking for your support to help Cheryl and Dennis restart their lives. Donations will be used to help Cheryl and Dennis get through this challenging time and cover expenses that might not be covered by other sources of aid.
Every contribution, no matter the size, helps. It’s not just about meeting material needs but about reminding them they’re not alone, that they have a community standing by them, lifting them up during this painful time.
Any assistance whether it’s a donation, sharing resources, or simply spreading this message would mean the world to them as they start this difficult journey of recovery.
From the depths of our hearts, thank you for any kindness, love, or support you can offer.
Thank you,
Wendy and Jason Snaer (Niece and Nephew)
