Help the Mbanefo Family

Hi, we are Hosanna City of Refuge Church, we are fundraising for one of the members of our church a family of five, who lost everything due to a fire outbreak in their home on May 6th, 2022. Both Mr. Mbanefo and his 18 year old son, Matthan, are currently in the hospital. Mr. Mbanefo underwent surgery for a fractured leg when he tried to jump out of the window. Matthan suffered severe second degree burns on his back and legs. Matthan is a Freshman in college and a beloved community member. He was the president of My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) in high school and is a scholar of The GodSquad’s Flatbush Leadership Academy. 

 

Matthan is a stellar example of what it means to be his “Brother’s Keeper”. Although he lost everything - including his adored sneaker collection - he is grateful to be alive. Mrs. Mbanefo was at work at the time of the fire outbreak and her other two sons were in school. The Red Cross provided a three-day hotel accommodation for the boys and their mother, which was later extended to 1 week. 

 

The family is now homeless and needs immediate support. The Mbanefo Family are members of Hosanna City of Refuge Church, located in Rosedale Queens. They have contributed financially and physically to various community outreach programs held by the church, such as feeding the homeless, veteran assistance, and more. Now, they are in need. So far, The Hosanna City of Refuge Church raised funds to buy immediate items like food, clothes, transportation, etc. 

 

This GoFundMe will help The Mbanefo family secure accommodation as they try to pick up the pieces and start all over. We appeal to everyone who can help to do so, and we pray the good Lord will continue to bless you.
