The Mazzola Family is traveling to Vanuatu to provide much-needed service to a local educational ministry, Impact Ministry Vanuatu. Students in the program are young men and boys native to Vanuatu who need a home and a strong start in life. Impact Vanuatu trains students in skilled trades such as construction, automotive repair, and woodworking. Impact then helps place these young men into local businesses when they are ready to move on.
In light of the recent earthquakes that rocked Vanuatu's infrastructure, the need for young men in Vanuatu who possess real-world skills is greater than ever. In addition, the earthquakes have displaced many families, and Impact is very likely to see an influx of young men who may no longer have a home and who need training, mentorship, and discipling. In short, this ministry needs to grow!
The goal of this trip is to provide essential manpower and experience to build a ~2400 sq ft open-air workshop to be used for automotive repair training and hands-on woodwork training. Impact has the land, the material, and the designs to build this much needed workshop. The only thing lacking is somebody with the skills necessary to do the foundation work and raising of the structure.
As the young men in the program will be able hands throughout the build process, the ability to speak Bislama (the national language) is indispensable. Marcus' 18 months of life spent in Vanuatu and 8+ years of construction experience makes him well suited to be the lead on this project.
The whole family is going, as well as our long-time friend and "auntie" to the boys, Katya. She will be instrumental in helping take care of our little boys as well as lending a hand with whatever else needs doing. Please help us provide an essential service to a relatively new ministry doing incredible work to strengthen the next generation of young men in Vanuatu.
