Help the Matthews Family Through Crisis

Updated today 02/18/2025 He finally got moved to rehab on 02/11/2025 here in Clarksville hes having a hard time getting up and down do to the multiple surgeries on his stomach. Im asking first for prayer for our family this is very stressful time and im not getting the rest i need with all the running so please say extra prayers for each of us. Secondly financially we’re struggling so if you can help we would appreciate it thanks again.

On November 14, my husband, Dwayne Matthews, went in for an exploratory surgery to remove mesh from his stomach. He went home, but the next day he started having severe abdominal pain, so we took him to the ER. They admitted him to the hospital. At that time, his kidneys were shutting down. Then that got better, but they found a ruptured bowel. Since then, he's become septic, and he's now in the ICU on a ventilator to try to help his body recover.

As of today, December 7, he’s had 5 surgeries. They're trying to repair his bowels, and he’s currently on a ventilator in the ICU. There will be lots of therapy and many trips back and forth to the hospital. We’ve got a long road ahead of us. We're asking for your help. I know times are rough, and if all you can do is pray, we appreciate it. But if you can help us financially, it would help in a great way. Thank you, the Matthews family. God bless.

As of today January 22, 2025 he’s had a total of 8 surgeries to clean out his stomach from all the leaking bowel from the tear. He has trouble remembering things and where he’s been in the hospital for so long it’s delirium which is hard on us to know if he’s ok at times.  Currently he has about a foot long opening on his stomach covered by a wound vac helping to close it and keep drainage away he also has a JP drain in his stomach for the drainage. He’s on PPN and lipids as his food supply hasn’t eaten real food in months. They’re looking for a care facility to take him for rehab and wound care till we can get him back home. As of today no one will take him with the issues of medicine he’s on and wound care. I as his wife am stressed and anxiety is bad but trying to keep it together for the kids. Our bills are growing and with him not home to help with bills we’re struggling financially I understand it’s hard for everyone God bless.
