Martin family road to recovery and new challenges
Donation protected

This is the Martin family. Casey Martin, the father and center of this family’s world, recently had emergency spinal surgery after years of being misdiagnosed and mismanaged for his spinal pain. This resulted in irreversible spinal injury that even a 6-hour surgery by a world-class surgeon couldn’t fix.
He is now paralyzed from the bottom of his breastbone to his toes and has excruciating full body spasms many times a day. He is wheelchair bound and is very limited with his mobility requiring full time care.
He is a father to 5 children and husband to a phenomenal nurse. Both are Veterans of the United States Navy who served proudly.
The VA has been very helpful with caring for his medical needs but they are also limited to what they can provide. Casey is a very tall, large man who is too large for most medical devices that would be beneficial to his quality of life. He will have to travel to and from San Diego many times in the next couple of years for advanced physical therapy.
The family is in need of a large handicap van so he can leave his home to perform normal daily tasks and enjoy family outings, and a home large enough for him to use his motorized wheelchair safely. A handicap friendly home, so he can care for his family the way he has always done, by being an amazing partner who plays a huge part in the everyday tasks family life.
They have accrued a lot of debt buying things that the VA is unable to provide or would take months of waiting to receive.
Please help this family be able to improve their quality of life and transition into their new normal.
