Every piece of litter picked up makes a difference.

The Maghull Wombles was established in 2025 as Maghull's first dedicated community litter-picking group, with one simple mission: to create a cleaner, greener Maghull for everyone.

What began as a small group of volunteers has grown into a thriving community of more than 30 dedicated litter pickers, supported by an experienced volunteer admin team, a formal constitution, and a clear commitment to improving our local environment.

Each year we aim to:

Organise over 50 community litter picks

Remove around 200 bags of litter from our streets, parks and public spaces.

Recruit and support 30+ volunteers.

Deliver educational events in local schools and during school holidays.

Work with local shops to encourage environmental responsibility.

Liaise with Sefton Council, local councillors, our MP and Merseyside Police to report illegal dumping, nitrous oxide canisters, overflowing bins and other environmental issues.

Raise awareness through Facebook, WhatsApp and local community events, inspiring everyone to take pride in where they live.

But we can't do it alone.

Your donation will help us buy litter-picking equipment, high-visibility clothing, bags, gloves, educational resources for schools, promotional materials and other essential items that allow our volunteers to continue making a real difference.
