Help the Madden Family Through Luca's Recovery
Donation protected
We are the Madden family. The little bit in the picture is our second son Luca. Luca was diagnosed with a neuro tube defect (spina bifida) along with clubbed feet. He had a cyst on his back that the doctors had to drain prior to C section delivery. After a long and involved delivery, little Luca was taken within the first 12 hours of his life to have surgery on his back to remove the cyst and close the opening in his back where the cyst was coming from. The surgery went very well but we aren't out of the woods yet. We have been here for 8 days and are possibly looking at another 7 days and possibly longer depending on how the wound heals and when they are able to get him onto his back.
My wife was discharged and then had to be readmitted due to fluid build up and severe head aches. Her blood pressure is constantly being monitored along with many labs and blood work but she is right where she needs to be.
Knowing of this diagnosis for baby Luca we saved as much as we could leading up to this but our nest egg is depleting. We are not the type of people to ask for help but we are putting our pride aside and asking for help. There are a lot of unknowns that have come along with this but we are taking it a day at a time. Luca has proven that he is strong and has a fighting spirit. We are so grateful for the love, support, prayers etc. That we have received in the last week or so and in the months leading up to his arrival. This is the last thing we want to do but we feel it's needed to give us if nothing else a little bit of peace of mind in the coming weeks so that we can focus on taking the steps necessary to get baby Luca and my wife out of the hospital and back home!
